Before you rush off and buy an engine and gearbox, measure up the dimensions of the Daimler V8 and gearbox combination very carefully, because the body pressings which cover the bellhousing and gearbox are much smaller in the Daimler V8, than the Jaguar equivalent car (Mark 2 or 240/340) So if you want to fit a Jaguar XK six cylinder engine you will need to cut away the existing metal and weld.

The 2.4 was still less fast than it looked, despite an additional 8bhp over the Mk1, but was a usefully-priced entry-level model. For the Mk2, the previously top-of-the range 3.4-litre car was now occupying the mid-range slot. The Mk2 was finally killed off by late 1967, although two re-branded versions - the Jaguar 240 and 340 - were then launched. The 240/340 interior was downgraded via the use of vinyl upholstery and poorer quality carpets in order to keep list prices as low as possible, but in every other respect this latest duo was a fitting continuation of the Mk2.
